New Technology going "Huh?"....

While browsing through the piles of information jumping from link to link, I came across an article in the online New York times that caught my attention. I new type of silicone coating that may have wide influence and impact on many different areas of science and industry.

What most intrigued me about this piece not so much the effect it may have on the photographic industry with a more sensitive sensor or one that can detect IR radiation to a new level which would make my new found interest in IR photography go to a new level..... but what got me it the statement, "In science, the most exciting expression isn’t ‘Eureka!’ It’s ‘Huh?’” said Michael Hawley. And I guess this is true for most areas that we are newly delving into. The chance of a "Eureka" only comes after someone goes "Huh?" and then despite the "Huh?" decides to keep going and figure it out. So I guess going "Huh?" is not a bad way to start off...

More trees

This past weekend while out shooting I seems to have stumbled on to a series to photograph. Trees in infrared. I think by the end of the month or so I will make some prints and present it to a gallery in town. I don't think anyone else in the area will have something similar and I might be able to carve out a nitch market.

Color and you

As a photographer and more importantly as someone who looks out on the world and appreciates the colors of the world I have been curious about how we perceive color. During my wonderings on the world wide web I have come across several interesting sites that helps to give you an understanding of the connections that goes on between your eye and brain...

And one cannot forget the Apple site,

More to come as I find them...

Thoughts on the first day of class.

Well so far the quarter seems to be going well. I must say that the one class I have had so far is going well... We received very important information such as the syllabus and discovered some of the pet peeves, likes and dislikes of the instructor.

His presentation while not lacking in information also had an underlying pull of humor which tends to help one stay awake. You don't want to be the one kid that is suddenly brought back to the realm of consciousness by the low rumblings of laughter and be the last one to laugh because you were sleeping through the punch line. People might mistake that for you just being slow and "not getting" the said punch line and then you have to ask someone to repeat the joke and its never the same when you have to tell it a second time and then nobody is laughing anyway so its kinda awkward if you laugh and then they figure that you "must" be the slow one at which point the joke is on you....

So its a good thing to have humor in the agenda so you don't slip off to take twenty blinks.

Back in Class...

In about 40 minuets I will be sitting in a class back in the grind. The start of another quarter. And with it, homework, projects, papers and all such that students love, hate and try not to think of too much.

Catching up on the pictures...

Finally made my self sit down, edit and color-correct my images from the last couple days... weeks... but its done. I am really enjoying the effects I am getting from the IR converted camera.
